During the week leading up to the Fourth of July, about 700 million pounds of chicken and 190 million pounds of red meat/pork are bought. On July Fourth itself, 150 million hotdogs are eaten. Are you stockpiled and ready? In order to help with your 4th of July festivity this year, we would like to supply you with some healthful recommendations to always keep your celebration healthy, yet memorable.
Incorporate Vegetables along with Your Meat Products
Cut up various Zucchini, Bell Peppers, Squash, Onions, Tomatoes or some other vegetable that you want to have and place the pieces on the grill for a quick addition to the barbequed meat. Use smaller slices of the veggies and create kabobs with meat and vegetables, this way everyone receives a well-balanced serving.
Select Meat which is Low in Fat
A BBQ is by no means complete without having hotdogs, right? Well … Hotdogs contain a lot of sodium and fat inside the meat. There are healthier substitutes that are lower in fat, but continue to taste like the famous and loved hotdog taste. Toss some more poultry on the barbecue and remove some of those large hamburgers. Select a lower in fat ground meat. They sell 85/15 and 95/5 ground up meat that may be incredibly healthy compared to the full fat meat. Adding in a few spices and getting creative may substitute the lack of grease replaced with a spirit of satisfaction for your palate. If you are not looking to reduce the fat in the burgers, consider preparing smaller hamburgers or “sliders” for a portion-controlled meal.
Bypass the Higher Fat Desserts and Choose the Healthy Treats
Rather than a little something that will make your already full stomach, a little bit more full, consider having something that is light and festive but sufficient.
Red White and Blue Healthy Desserts
A Blend of Strawberries, Blueberries and Marshmallows
Dip Strawberries in White Chocolate and then in Blue Sprinkles
Watermelon – A Very Healthy Dessert or Treat
Take watermelon slices and a star cookie cutter to create star shaped watermelon pieces. These can then be placed on the leftover kabob sticks and stuck into piece of a watermelon in order to hold up the stars. Watermelon is very healthy and beneficial to anyone who has been outdoors in the sunshine all day. This is because Watermelon is very high in water content and serves to help to hydrate the human body. Watermelon also contains a significant level of all-natural lycopene, which is shown in early analysis to help possibly help reduce occurrence of cancer and heart diseases.
Stay Hydrated and Remember Sunscreen !!
Being out in the sunlight, occasionally, we have the tendency to overlook for how long we have been outdoors when we are enjoying ourselves. Always remember to remain safe by taking in a lot of water to ensure that you do not dehydrate your body. We also recommended sunscreen so you will not need aloe vera to the rescue when the day of jubilation ends.
Everyone Have a Safer and Fun Fourth of July Festivity!
